Rev. Bill Burns

Rev. Bill Burns

Rev. Bill Burns is typically one of the first instructors students have at Redeemer, and he likes it that way. He sees his role as shepherding them through the daunting task of learning an ancient language, not for its own sake, but so that they can learn to read the Scriptures in a new way and see Jesus more clearly as a result. Rev. Burns teaches with the heart of a pastor and desires for his students to experience the grace of Christ through their time in seminary. His vision is for students to grow in their love for Jesus and their knowledge of his love for them, as together we learn what it means to live as sons and daughters of the King. Besides teaching courses in New Testament Greek and Systematic Theology, he also leads the Redeemer Mens Group. He is currently a doctoral student in Systematic Theology through the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. In addition to his teaching role at the seminary, Rev. Burns serves as an Associate Pastor at Trinity Harbor Church in Rockwall, Texas. As part of his ministry there, he takes annual trips to Rajahmundry, India, to train pastors ministering to the poorest of the poor. He was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America in 2009. He received an M.Div. from the Texas Campus of Westminster Seminary in 2008, an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, a B. Music in 1992 and a B.A. in Economics in 1991 from Rice University in Houston, Texas. Originally from Houston, he served with Campus Crusade for Christ for 7 years in Florida, Kyrgyzstan, and Austin before moving to Dallas in 2001.
